Special Diets Are No Problem

We know everyone doesn’t eat the same, which is why we offer different meal options on Kilimanjaro Climb. If you’re a vegetarian or have other dietary needs, just let us know.

Sometimes, due to the limited availability of some ingredients in Tanzania, climbers with specific dietary preferences are encouraged to notify us in advance. In some instances, we may ask climbers to bring particular food items, which our chefs will prepare accordingly.

Stay Hydrated and Happy

Drinking enough water is super important, especially to avoid getting sick from the Kilimanjaro Altitude Sickness. The water on Kilimanjaro comes from mountain streams and is cleaned to make it safe to drink.

You need to carry about 3 litres each day as you hike. It’s also a good idea to bring some favourite Snacks for Kilimanjaro from home. They can make you feel better when the hike gets tough.

Why Carbs Are Important

On high mountains like Kilimanjaro, eating lots of carbs is best. They give you energy quickly and help keep your muscles strong. Our Food on Kilimanjaro Climb includes:

Eating high up can be hard because you might not feel hungry or you might feel a bit sick. Here are some tips to help when Climbing Kilimanjaro:

  • Always wash your hands before you eat.
  • Try to eat all your meals, even if you're not hungry.
  • Stick to the high-carb foods we provide.
  • Drink lots of water, at least four litres a day.
  • Bring your favourite snacks from home.
  • Stay away from too much coffee or any alcohol.
